How to use RBLs with ISMail

Real-time blackhole lists may be used with ISMail to reject messages from listed IP addresses.

If enabled, RBLs are queried for the IP address of the sender of a message. If the IP is listed, the message will be rejected.

Instructions for enabling RBL support with ISMail, ISMail Pro, and ISMail EP are listed for several RBLs below.

ORDB:

To use ORDB: (screenshot)

  1. Open the ISMail configuration manager
  2. Select the 'Access' page
  3. Check the 'Filter 1' checkbox
  4. In the 'Name' box, enter relays.ordb.org
  5. Click 'Apply'

SpamHaus:

To use SpamHaus: (screenshot)

  1. Open the ISMail configuration manager
  2. Select the 'Access' page
  3. Check the 'Filter 1' checkbox
  4. In the 'Name' box, enter sbl-xbl.spamhaus.org
  5. Click 'Apply'
